What Is Spring?

Among the most commonly used components that play a crucial role in human life are springs. Springs are objects that possess elasticity, resilience, and the ability to transmit compressive loads.

Springs come in various types, with the most important ones being:
– Mechanical springs
– Pneumatic or air springs
– Hydraulic or oil springs
Springs are widely employed in both simple and complex machinery to store potential energy. Despite their apparent simplicity, these components have significant industrial applications.
The earliest springs were quite different from modern examples. Initially, a flexible fiber, extracted from a plant, was fastened to form a bow shape using two wooden or bone ends. This primitive configuration resembled the initial concept of a bow and arrow. The inventor of this innovative component in its modern form is not currently known, but it is estimated that springs were first used in mechanical machinery in the early 17th century.

In the field of pump manufacturing, springs serve two key functions:
Pulling materials, enabling their discharge through openings, and returning the pump to its initial state for reuse.

Spring-less Pump
Today, a new generation of pumps has been introduced that eliminates the need for springs in the main pump chamber. This design prevents material contact with the spring alloy and inhibits chemical reactions.
